Well, in my health overhaul, I am on Day 3 of the 30-day Isagenix cleanse. As I was looking at the ingredients before I bought the cleanse, many of the them struck a bell with my memory; not that I know what they do, but I remember the names being spoken by healthy people who know what they are doing. Aloe vera (inner filet leaf gel), Alfalfa, ashwagandha (don’t ask me what it does, but I’ve heard the name), shizandra, wolfberry, hemp seed (minus the THC)… And I feel so great! I am not craving anything, and am not hungry. Last night as I went to bed, I felt “empty” but not hungry if that makes sense.
I’m sure a large portion is water, but I’ve lost 4.5 pounds since my first weigh-in Sunday! I started on Monday. I feel great. And I have tried so many diets where I felt terrible by day 3 - I have to say I am a bit surprised by feeling this good. Diets are usually depriving and miserable. I don’t even feel lighter. I just am. I like it.
My health overhaul does not focus on one thing, though. It’s not Isagenix alone that is going to transform my health. I just took a photo of my morning “shot” of the Ionix Supreme (yes, it is reminiscent of my college days except a healthy version) but I am doing several things that I am excited to see the results:
EXERCISE AND WATER: I’ve actually been on my eliptical machine for 20 minutes in the morning yesterday and today - nothing major – just a brisk walk on low resistance while I watch the news. I’ve been sticking with the cleanse during the day and drinking a TON of water. Yesterday I tried out the recumbent bike I bought used several months ago that I have NEVER used… did that for a few minutes during the evening news.
SKIN BRUSHING: Also, yesterday and today I have been skin brushing. I’ve heard so many wonderful things about skin brushing I will make a post devoted to just that.
ORDERED HAPPY BODY BOOK: I ordered the book “The Happy Body” off Amazon. Should be here next Monday. I heard about it on the radio and it sounded fantastic… went to Amazon and it had 40-some solid 5-star reviews so I went for it. One thing the author said that struck me was, as we all know, exercise is a key component of a happy body, right? But what do I think of when the word “exercise” is spoken? I think of being trapped, sweat drenched and gasping for air in an aerobics studio at a gym… staring at my gut and butt in the mirror with skinny people all around me who are keeping up with an instructor – and strangely enjoying it - while I, the whale of the class, am struggling for my very survival. Those people really freak me out. What is wrong with them? Anyway, that is what I think of when “exercise” is mentioned. It’s not a word to me. It’s a trigger of a painful memory.
What the author said, though, was to pick something – ANYTHING – that I will do. Something I enjoy. I don’t like walking. I don’t like jogging (I used to like it but too many of my body parts are going in too many different directions at this point). I don’t want to have to pay to go swimming. I am a member of the gym but I hate going to the gym. What is left for me? What can I do? It got me thinking… which leads me to my next step of action:
BOUGHT A BIKE (used off Craigslist). I will do that! And I enjoy it. Before I was a real estate agent from home, I had a job about 6 blocks away. I often thought of getting a bike to ride to work instead of driving, but the picture of me on my lunch hour smoking my cigarette as I bike down the road just did not look pretty to me. Smoking has been so detrimental in so many ways. Still working on that one, though, and am not going to talk about it today.
